Year 6’s topic of ‘Make My Voice Heard’ involved using the Chiaroscuro art style. Chiaroscuro is an artistic technique that uses strong contrasts between light and dark areas in a painting or drawing to create a sense of depth and volume. It's an Italian term meaning "light-dark". Chiaroscuro is often used to model three-dimensional forms and figures, making them appear more realistic. The children practiced the skills using Mayan symbols and then decided on their own message in this art style. The results were fantastic!
